"A popular government, without popular information, or the means of
acquiring it, is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy, or perhaps both.
Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; a people who mean to be their own
governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives."

- James Madison, 1822.

Our state and federal governments depend on our elected and appointed officials to display an almost impossible command of facts. From accounting regulations to highway funding, health care policy to voter registration, our leaders are expected to demonstrate their understanding of arcane details of complicated legislation. All of our leaders depend on informed citizens to help them understand the essence of a particular issue.

The Legislative Committee of the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City is a well-informed source of help for our leaders. People who've had personal experience with brain injury serve as invaluable sources of expertise concerning the many legislative and regulatory issues that impact our lives. Case-managers, family members, friends, physicians, rehabilitation professionals, survivors, teachers . . . each of our members has had a unique experience surrounding brain injury and its challenges.

Please contact the association if you have any concern that the Legislative Committee might address, or if you need help contacting your elected or appointed officials. It is our pleasure to assist you.
